The Safe Way to Lose Weight

Note

I have modified my original belief that the excess fluid is all in the blood vessels. I now believe that most is in the blood vessels, while some may be in the abdominal cavity (ascites), and some in the body tissues.

Low sodium in foods?

If you're unsure about which foods contain a lot of salt/sodium then click on the 'Sodium in Foods' link in the list of links on the left of each page.

The Lucky People

If you are not overweight, do not have high blood pressure, are not 'slimming' and are not in one of the vulnerable groups, then reducing your salt intake would improve your health only slightly and you may prefer not to make great changes to what you eat. - But check on the Associated Health Problems page first. - There may be another problem you have that could be helped by eating less salt.

Disclaimer

The material on this site has been written by me, a steroid victim. I created this website to disseminate information I have found, from my own experience and that of other people I have advised, to be helpful to people who have become obese because of taking steroids or HRT or anti-depressants or other prescription drugs, to be helpful in preventing or reducing obesity in general, and to save people from needless ill-health and suffering.

The website does not sell anything and has no banners or sponsors or adverts - just helpful information.

I am not a doctor. The material is in no way intended to replace professional medical care or attention by a qualified practitioner. The content of this website cannot and should not be used as a basis for diagnosis or choice of medical treatment. Use of the information, advice and suggestions provided on this site is entirely at the User's own risk. This website and I are not responsible for any consequence relating directly or indirectly to any recommendations or information contained in this site as it pertains to any particular medical condition or circumstance. I am not a nutritionist or dietician. If you believe that in order to lose weight you need to count calories, or reduce your fat intake, or take strenuous exercise, please go to another website. Conventional theories about slimming in those ways have no place on this website. I believe that all that is normally necessary to lose excess weight is to eat less salt, i.e. to reduce one's sodium intake, and to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. If that idea upsets you then please do not use this website.
